How To Make Use Of That Space Under Your Stairs
By Greg Vanden Berge

There are plenty of things that you can do with the space under your stairs. How to make use of that space under your stairs however, could present us with a challenging opportunity. Let's see if we can help you, by providing you with a few simple remodeling ideas

If you have an open space underneath your stairway, you could always build some shelves or build some shelves with some doors and drawers. You could build some simple or elaborate shelves for books or for displaying some of your precious belongings.

You could always build an entertainment center, if the location of the stairway, provides you with that opportunity. Don't build an entertainment center under your stairs, if it's not located in an easily accessible area.

If the stair case is wide enough, you can always transform this spot into a study area. You could build a nice desk with some shelves and even a few drawers. This could provide you with an excellent way to keep track of your children, while they're doing their homework.

What about placing a sofa or a few chairs under your stairs to provide you with a cozy retreat. You can always build a wooden bench and then throw a couple of cushions, with some pillows on top of it.

Last but not least, you could always frame this area in, building a wall with a door and use it as a closet. There are plenty of things you can do with the area under your stairs, if you just start thinking outside the box.

I've even seen homeowners put a small bathroom in this area. Like I said, you just need to get creative.
