| This has got to be
one of the biggest problems I've seen during my years of building homes
or working on other construction projects that require a stairway. I
can't believe how many times I came across a construction project that
didn't provide an overhang at the upper floor or even the stair landing.
Most building codes require the same type of stair tread nosing at all
landings and floors. In other words, if you have a one inch overhang on
your stair treads, make sure that you have a 1 inch overhang throughout
the entire stairway, including the upper floor.
Attention: Don't forget to check with your local
building department to verify any building codes on this website. This
information could be incorrect or outdated. Building codes are updated
regularly and to some building departments have different
interpretations for certain building codes.
