Windows within a certain distance of the stairway, need
to be made from tempered glass, otherwise known as safety glass. Make
sure that you understand these building codes, before designing or
constructing a building.
If I could sum up the building code for windows around stairways, it
would simply state that all windows need to be tempered glass that are
within 60 inches from the stairway in every direction.
