A Bellhanger drill bit is just another word used for a
long drill bit. I don't know where the name came from and I personally
haven't ever referred to them as Bellhanger drill bits.
I've always referred to them as long drill bits and they
definitely come in handy, in the stair building and construction
business. Even know these drill bits are handy, they can usually be
replaced with a drill bit extension.
Sometimes it's cheaper to buy one drill bit extension that can be used
for a variety of different drill bit sizes, instead of buying a variety
of long drill bits.
Most cable and telephone installation workers use these drill bits to
drill through walls, ceilings and floors, in order to gain access to
adjoining rooms.
