The starting step is the first step that you will take
while walking up a staircase. The picture below provides you with an
excellent example of the first stair tread and starting step. If there's
one thing that every stairway has, it's a starting step. Think about it,
even if you have a one step stairway, it will still have a starting
step.
Decorative Starting Steps
The black arrow in the picture above is pointing to the first tread and
the designer turned it into a wonderful decorative starting step. This
is probably one of the most inexpensive ways a home builder can use, to
create an elegant look.
Most of the time the first step is going to be a focal point for anyone
who walks through the front door. I seen a variety of shapes and
designs, but some of them, absolutely take your breath away.
