A tread under cut is used to provide people who walk up
the stairway with a more comfortable step. Instead of using vertical
risers, a tread under cut will be angled back, creating a longer tread.
This will provide stairway users with more room for their feet. The

Almost anyone can learn how to build a set of stairs, with enough time,
